Resettling Judah after the long exile in Babylon was a very difficult process for the Jewish nation - often overwhelming. Many, feeling too daunted with endless problems, completely gave up on the Temple. The Temple of Jerusalem had been destroyed during the exile and rebuilding it just felt too hard. Thanks to Saint Haggai (and Saint Zechariah!) the Jews once again found the heart and determination to get back to work on the Temple and had it completed by 515 B.C.

And take courage, all you people of the land,
says the LORD, and work!
For I am with you, says the LORD of hosts.
