Saint Malachi (MAL - a - kie) felt deeply for his people. It broke his heart that they were so lax in their love for the Lord. He was particularly upset with many religious leaders of his time (about 450 years before the birth of Christ). He was distressed over their lack of concern for others and God. Malachi strongly challenged his people to put a fuller focus on the Lord.
For the lips of the priest are to keep knowledge, and instruction is to be sought from his mouth, because he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. -Malachi 2:7
