Epiphany with La Befana

Epiphany takes me right back to our years in Italy.  This feast was always celebrated on January 6 and included a tradition/legend about a little old lady called La Befana.  La Befana had met the Three Wise Men who told her about the newborn king.  She decided to go look for the baby Jesus and left treats and goodies for children she saw sound asleep along the way.  It was fun to observe this custom.

Epiphany celebrates the manifestation of Christ to the Magi.  In many places is is celebrated on January 6 ... at the conclusion of the Twelve Days of Christmas.

The feast of the Magi, or Wise Men, is on July 24.
