Blessed Clemens August von Galen - A Devout Bible Reader

Clemens August von Galen
"After breakfast the Bishop sat down at his writing-table immediately.  First he read one or more chapters of the Bible and in this way usually went through Old and New Testaments in the course of a year."
Taken From:
Cardinal von Galen by Heinrich Portmann
Chapter 9 - A Day in the Bishop's Palace

A Blessed for a Relative?
My mother and I are not sure, but there is a possibility that we are related to Blessed Cardinal Clemens August von Galen, a great defender of goodness during World War II.  My Great-Grandmother, Anna Galen Lees, used to talk of a Cardinal in the family, back in Germany.  Our family records don't go back far enough to make a determination, but it would be neat!

Memorial on the Feast of Saint Epaphroditus
Blessed Clemens August von Galen is remembered on March 22.  He died on March 22 (the Feast of Saint Epaphroditus) in 1946 ... 65 years ago today.
