Saint Philip the Apostle - A Patron Saint for Pastry Chefs

People often ask me how Saint Philip the Apostle became the patron of Pastry Chefs and Hatmakers.  I wish I knew!  I'm suspicious that there is a great story or two from the medieval days that go along with these patronages.  I bet he'd be pleased with this gingerbread creation, though!

The Non-Gingerbread Version

Multiplication of the Loaves

Philip answered him, "Two hundred days' wages worth of food would not be enough for each of them to have a little [bit]."
 - John 6:7

Saint Philip shares a Feast Day with another apostle ... Saint James, son of Alphaeus.  Their Feast Date is May 3.
