Assumption of Mary & Our Lady of Ephesus Celebrated in Turkey and Vermont

The Nelson Boys at Mary's House in Ephesus - 1997

Many claim that John the Evangelist (brother of James the Greater) took Mary to Ephesus at some point after Jesus’ ascension into heaven.  The house where he purportedly took care of her is still standing and receives multitudes of visitors each year.  There is not an official feast of “Our Lady of Ephesus,” however, on the feast of Mary’s Assumption, special commemorations are held at Mary’s House in Ephesus.

A group in Vermont built a replica of Mary’s House and also hold special religious ceremonies each year on the Feast of the Assumption.
