Saint Phoebe ~ A Special Saint for Women

In the last chapter of Paul’s Letter to the Romans, he tells the Christians of the city to treat a woman named Phoebe with kindness.  This Phoebe is believed to be the carrier of Paul’s Letter to the Romans.  She was from Cenchreae, about 7 miles from Corinth (perhaps she knew Chloe), but quite a distance from Rome.  Only a woman with a sense of spirit, focus, determination, and devotion could make a trip like this.  That no husband, son, or traveling companion is mentioned is intriguing as well.  And, her safe delivery of the Letter to the Romans has left us now … 2000 years later with wonderful inspiration, encouragement, and guidance to embrace the message of Christ.
The Feast of St. Phoebe is September 3
