Saints Elizabeth and Zechariah ~ A Holy and Devout Couple

Elizabeth and Zechariah Greeting Mary
Luke 1

~ How shall I know this?  For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.

~ John is his name.

~ The Canticle of Zechariah

~ So has the Lord done for me at a time when He has seen fit to take away my disgrace before others.

~ Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

~ And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

~ For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.

~ Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.

~ No, he will be called John.

Elizabeth and Zechariah share September 23 (formerly Nov. 5) as a Feast Day.  They share this day with Saint Pope Linus and Saint Pio.
