Thanksgiving often brings back memories of years ago when I took my then two sons to San Giovanni Rotondo for a Padre Pio pilgrimage. (We were stationed in Naples, Italy, and my husband was sent to the U.S. for a time.) While there, we worked in a side trip to Monte Sant'Angelo, a nearby sanctuary where St. Michael the Archangel once appeared to a bishop. The site of the appearance, a cave, now holds a beautiful chapel, down a long set of stairs. In the photo above, the boys are pictured at the entrance to the steps descending to the St. Michael Chapel.
