An Intriguing Connection Between St. Elizabeth & St. Zechariah, and St. Padre Pio ...
September 23 - honors three Bible Saints: Elizabeth and her husband Zechariah, and Linus; as well as a newer saint, St. Padre Pio. One fun connection here is that St. Padre Pio spent much of his life in a small Italian city called San Giovanni Rotondo - a city named after and placed under the patronage of St. John the Baptist, who is the son of two of today's saints: Elizabeth and Zechariah. The feast of St. Elizabeth & Zechariah used to be November 5.

Another September 23 saint - St. Linus - was a good friend to St. Paul. Based on Paul's Second Letter to Timothy, which is considered to have been written while imprisoned in Rome, not long before he was martyred. It is clear that Linus was with Paul, possibly until Paul's death. It is believed that when our first Pope, Peter, was martyred, that this rather obscure New Testament Saint replaced him and became the second Pope of the Catholic Church.
Eubulus, Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brothers send greetings.
